Patrick Mertens, the founder and managing director, has over twenty years experience in the high tech industry, having served in both contributor and management roles in the roles e-Placers.com now works to place people in.  The firm handles both retained and contingency searches.

With respect to retained searches, the firm provides evaluation, sourcing, front-end research, and a commitment to finalizing and successfully closing all retained searches.  Each search is customized with a partnering focus for each of its client's requirements. This allows us to work with our clients to complete each search successfully.

Patrick Mertens has worked in the technical placement field since 1995.

Prior to that he was involved in the computer industry in sales, QA, support and documentation areas; he joined MultiLIS in 1990 as Eastern Sales Office Manager selling to the library automation market.

Earlier, at Houghton Mifflin Company's Business Software Division (now INSO) he organized and managed the quality and documentation functions for multi-lingual spell checking, thesauri, American Heritage Electronic Dictionary and grammar correction.

Prior to that Mr. Mertens was involved with libraries and their automation.  He was responsible for the computer conversion project at Erie County (PA) Library; he then joined the staff of the library's automation company, CLSI (now Geac Computers), where he performed system support, quality assurance and documentation writing as well as management of those functions.

Mr. Mertens earned a bachelor's degree from Bucknell University and a Certificate in Special Studies in Administration and Management from Harvard University.  In the Boston area he participates in the Newton Wellsley Hospital platelet (white blood cell) pheresis donation program and  is an active environmentalist.
