To configure your computer to use one of our nationwide phone numbers, you just need to (1) enable nationwide access to your account (if your account was created before December 2001) and (2) set your control panel ("Dial-Up Networking", "Remote Access", or "PPP" to connect to the appropriate phone number with a login name of "yourlogin@theworld.com".

All dial-ups use standard PPP internet connections. Authorization of your login and password is done via CHAP, generally the default for most computer dial-up software. Upon successful connection you will automatically be assigned an IP address by us.
