Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ's are Frequently Asked Questions, usually to an electronic
document which someone has compiled containing questions asked over
and over again on discussion lists. Specific, topical FAQs are
posted monthly on many USENET newsgroups. People joining these
newsgroups are often expected to have looked these FAQs over lest their
next question be an irritatingly common one. These documents usually
contain a table of contents for easy reviewing.
The World maintains its own general FAQ on our basic services, as well
as an ever-growing collection of FAQs related to specific utilities. We
also maintain a collection of FAQs found on the Internet that you may
access.
You may also be interested in the definitive source of FAQs, located
at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ftp site:
rtfm.mit.edu. Use ftp or ncftp to access this site, and be prepared
to wait to establish a connection. The popularity of this site can
mean more than one connection attempt may be required.
