Fuel System

Fuel System

*** Fuel System Schematic and Photos of each junction ***

A1. We "prototyped" the fuel lines with cheap air tubing. Then we changed to opaque blue "Aeroquip" tubing. The "Aeroquip" tubing is heavier than the clear blue tubing Mark uses. This may add a little weight to the plane, but we believe it will be safer & will not have to be replaced as often.

A2. Also, we used several 90 degree plastic barb connectors (used with fuel lines.) We got these from Lockwood Aviation.

B1. The schematic shows the fuel vent tube on the right. On the plane, this is in the middle.

B2. The schematic shows the Electric Fuel Pump on the left (3-7) and the Pneumatic Fuel Pump on the right (8-12). On the plane, these are reversed due to proximity of the units.

B3. The schematic shows a blue arrow for the Pulse Tube on the bottom of the pneumatic fuel pump. On the plane, this is on the top and the input/output fuel lines are on the bottom.

Item 1: For the fuel vent, we used the clear blue tubing Mark sent us.

Items 3-5 & 8-10: We use heavier opaque blue "Aeroquip" tubing.

For "Aeroquip" tubing we used 1/2" snapper clamps. We found these at Aquatic Eco-Systems, Inc.

Item 1: Clear blue fuel vent tube.

Item 2: End of the clear blue fuel vent tube. We have it wound around, as we do not know how long it will ultimately be.

Item 7: Output from the Electric Fuel Pump. In this photo this is not connected yet. We have to cut the tube and attach it to the 90 degree barb connector.

Blue Arrows: Show the ends of the Pulse Tube. We received special larger tubing for this. Remember, pulse tubing is NOT the same as regular fuel line.

Item 13 from the front of the plane.

Green Arrows: Notice on the Pneumatic Fuel Pump that Ed marked the input and output sides with black arrows. IN and OUT are written on the unit, but we wanted clear visibility so we attached the tubing correctly.

Item 13 from the rear of the plane.

Blue Arrow: Pulse Tubing.

Yellow Arrows: Notice we started with cheap air tubing to measure the distances. Then we converted to the opaque blue "Aeroquip" tubing.

Blue Arrows: The Pulse Line tube did not change - this is special larger tube.

Converting from prototyped cheap air tubing to the "Aeroquip" tubing.
